OEM BIB manufacturing is contract development and production of a complete liquid packaging system: a multi-layer inner bag, a dispensing tap or fitment, an outer corrugated box, and the filling equipment or line guidance needed to run it.
Buying from an OEM converter is different from buying stock bags. The manufacturer engineers the film recipe for your product's chemistry and fill temperature, selects a tap that matches your dispensing format, sizes the outer box for your pallet pattern, and validates the combination on a filling line before you commit to volume.
Definition: A bag-in-box is a liquid container formed by a flexible multi-layer inner bag placed inside a rigid outer box. The bag collapses as it empties, so the remaining liquid stays in contact with the tap and the evacuation rate stays high.
The four deliverables of an OEM project are the film, the fitment, the box and the filling procedure. Each one changes both the cost and the performance of the finished package.
Five measurable specifications define an OEM BIB program: oxygen transmission rate, tap type, bag volume, evacuation rate and outer box design.
Put these values on the technical sheet before you request samples. A converter that cannot quote an oxygen transmission rate or a target evacuation rate has not finished the engineering work.
| Specification | What it controls | What to specify |
| Oxygen transmission rate (OTR) | Oxygen ingress, flavour stability, shelf life | 0.5 to 5 cc/m2/day for barrier films; lower values for aseptic packs |
| Tap type | Flow rate, drip control, reseal, tamper evidence | Spigot, tap with threaded cap, or fitment-only bag for filling lines |
| Bag volume and fill weight | Portion size, pallet yield, dispensing behaviour | 3 L to 20 L nominal volume with a declared fill tolerance |
| Evacuation rate | Residual product left inside the bag | Target 95 percent or higher for low-viscosity liquids |
| Box size and print | Stacking strength, shelf display, transport | Board grade, die-cut geometry, brand print and pallet pattern |
Spout position deserves the same attention as the film itself. A bag designed without considering the tap will drain poorly, and poor drainage becomes measurable product loss over thousands of packs. The relationship between spout placement and bag geometry in evacuation rate is covered in detail in our technical guide.
Working rule: every specification you lock before sampling shortens the development cycle. If the film, tap and box are decided on paper, the fill trial becomes a confirmation instead of an experiment.
The split between food and non-food BIB is not a labelling choice. It decides which film resins, tap materials and filling tolerances are acceptable in the first place.
Food applications dominate BIB volume because the format protects sensitive liquids. The food-grade BIB packaging program at Suzhou Jingle covers dairy, jam and juice, syrup and soda, tea and coffee liquid, edible oil, liquid egg, water and alcohol. Non-food applications use the same bag-in-box logic but with different priorities.

Why it matters: a dairy product and an agrochemical concentrate can use similar-looking bags, but the film recipe, tap materials and validation protocols are not interchangeable. Specify the application category first, then the barrier.
Most OEM BIB programs start from a proven film platform and then customise three things: barrier level, fitment design and print.
Customisation is where a supplier earns its engineering claim. Suzhou Jingle's customized BIB packaging development covers co-extruded film recipes, spout and cap assembly selection, box geometry and application-specific printing. The goal is a package that fits the product rather than a product squeezed into a stock bag.

What to ask: request a film and fitment proposal that states OTR, tap type, evacuation target and a fill-trial protocol before the first production run. Without numbers, the offer is a stock bag, not an OEM development.
Customisation also touches logistics. A well-designed 10 L outer box reduces pallet weight, improves stacking stability and simplifies waste handling at the customer site compared with the equivalent volume in rigid containers.
A supplier qualifies only when it can prove seal integrity, evacuation performance and filling compatibility with your own line.

Run the trial on equipment that will actually produce the pack. Suzhou Jingle's supporting technologies for film, fitment and filling validation cover seal-integrity checks, evacuation measurement and filler matching, so the production handover starts with proven numbers instead of assumptions.

When the technical file is complete, track the supplier's response time on samples and test data. A converter that answers with real results inside the agreed window is the one that will meet production deadlines. You can request a technical quotation with your product data directly from the Suzhou Jingle packaging team.
Shortcut for buyers: send one page of product data plus your target shelf life and annual volume. A serious OEM supplier will come back with a film structure, a tap recommendation and a sampling timeline.
Product type, viscosity, pH, fill temperature, solids content, target shelf life, pack volume, dispensing method and annual quantity. These data drive the film recipe, tap selection and filling tolerance.
In most cases, yes. The fitment design can be matched to piston, flow-meter or gravity fillers, and the bag geometry can be adjusted to the filler's infeed. A supplier that also offers filling equipment can support the retrofit and tune the line for accuracy.
After the specification is locked, first samples typically take two to four weeks, followed by a fill trial and sample testing. Production readiness depends on film stock, tap availability and the supplier's line schedule, so confirm the timeline in writing.
Food-grade BIB uses food-contact film resins and tap materials, lower oxygen transmission for sensitive liquids, and options for aseptic or clean-fill production. Industrial BIB prioritises chemical compatibility, permeation resistance and leak-proof closure for potentially hazardous liquids.
